Community Participation
The Kyoto Energy Park Company recognizes the value in community consultation and participation especially during early stages of the project feasibility and community and environmental assessment. Pamada anticipates the overall community and regional benefit of the project to be extensive and of significant value to the area.
The key objectives of Pamada's consultation and participation strategy are:
- To identify all key stakeholder groups and understand their specific interests or concerns about the project;
- Develop appropriate and effective methods for engaging each stakeholder group;
- Be transparent; provide the community and surrounding landholders with accurate and information about the proposed Energy Park and keep them informed and up-to-date;
- Provide opportunities for the community to raise issues, make comments, ask questions and provide valuable local knowledge; and
- Be accessible and available to discuss specific concerns face-to-face or in small effective groups;
- Indicate how the feedback received would be considered in the decision making process.
A Community Open Day was held during the planning and assessment process of the Environmental Assessment, to give the community further opportunity to comment on the project and provide valuable feedback. This feedback has been assessed and included in the development application under Part 3A.
All comments, issues and concerns raised have been considered during the planning evaluation and overall strategic design stages of the project, and documented in the Environmental Assessment report submitted to the NSW Department of Planning.
