What is “green” energy?
Electricity can be sourced from environmentally-friendly renewable resources such as the sun, wind, hydro, geothermal and biogas. This can then be distributed in the national electricity pool which is commonly referred to as the ‘grid’ .
Electricity sourced from renewable resources sometimes called “green” energy, helps reduce the amount of greenhouse emissions released into the atmosphere by replacing electricity sourced from non-renewable resources such as coal and petroleum gas.
GreenPower™
GreenPower™ is renewable energy produced from clean renewable sources. When customers choose a Government accredited GreenPower™ product, their energy supplier commits to buying the requested amount of electricity from approved new renewable energy generators. Assuming that approval for the Energy Park is granted the Kyoto Energy Park Company would apply for a generators license and supply 100% renewable energy to the grid.
GreenPower™ accreditation gives consumers assurance that the renewable energy they purchased will decrease greenhouse gas emissions and actively contribute to the development of a renewable energy industry in Australia. GreenPower™ approved generators comply with stringent environmental standards.
