Buying Green Energy
WHAT IS "GREEN" ENERGY?
Electricity can be sourced from environmentally-friendly renewable resources such as the sun, wind, hydro, geothermal and biogas. Electricity sourced from renewable resources sometimes called "green" energy, helps reduce the amount of greenhouse emissions released into the atmosphere by replacing electricity sourced from non-renewable resources such as coal and petroleum gas. There are 2 main ways to buy green energy:
BUYING GREENPOWER
The first way to buy green energy is to contact your electricity retailer and request to purchase GreenPower. GreenPower may cost you a small additional charge per kWh or be based on a flat weekly extra charge. When you buy GreenPower you are paying for a renewable energy source to contribute electricity into the pool of electricity you draw electricity from.
BUYING SOLAR ENERGY
